Peter Bjorn and John - Writer’s Block

Ok, hipsters love it. It's probably playing in all the Williamsburg bars as we speak. Which is why it took me so long to get this album. But, I have to admit, I like it. It is a solid indie pop album. Then again, I listen to all this crap. Put a little lo-fi, retro, pop, indie rock on and I'm down. Yeah, I'm a sucker for the whistling. Ok, this review is obviously telling you that this might fall into the guilty pleasure realm. But, I'm loud and proud! Say it, don't spray it, child!

what kind of crazy thing do you think went on when they wrote the last dinosaur jr. album? j mascis talking something about growing up in the 1940's? lou barlow talking about growing up as an immature cat in park slope? murph saying something like, "it's not a bald spot… it's a solar panel for a love machine."… i can't help it but it needs to be said. just that feeling of bros before ho's, befo' skatebo's, before family-o's and shitty-o's. it kind of makes me feel like the first time i really heard music. the first time i actually identified with it. beyond "you saw me crying in the chapel", beyond michael chapel, beyond cousin brucey, and beyond harry harrison in the morning. BEYOND
BUG… this was the first time i ever felt like an individual. the first time i left the womb. there are different ways to do that i guess. and when you get older, it's not much more than this. it's not much more than anything. not much more than nothing too. this is all i came to do. this is all i came to do. this is all i came to do… no. no. YES!YES!YEs?yes? yes? yes…..
what did j mascis do to your masculinity?
Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

I am digging this new Wilco album. A little slower and a lot more 70's. I couldn't pick between 2 tracks, so I'm putting both of them up for your listening pleasure. Think Don Henley on this first track.
