dear wendy, i looked over this hairy monster called pet fancy and well, i must say, i don’t like it.  it’s musky and i hate musky.  can you place my vote in for keeping veterinary hospitals from smelling musky?  our hospital doesn’t need anymore of that than it already has.  thanks, anthony. oh and yes this is what the butthole surfers do….. kuntz

Bee Gees Revival

beegees.jpgHow many of you still check this site? Not many I guess. Well just to get things pumping again. I've heard 2 Bee Gees covers in the past few months. The Nina Simone cover is beyond great. The Lucksmiths, well, I like the Lucksmiths and that's why I'm posting it. You know, for funzzies.

Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

Wilco

I am digging this new Wilco album. A little slower and a lot more 70's. I couldn't pick between 2 tracks, so I'm putting both of them up for your listening pleasure. Think Don Henley on this first track.

If you like good music…

…check out this track I just downloaded from Parts & Labor, they have a huge sound and the drumming is sick. The track is called "Fractured Skies".

Memory Lane

So, I got this new iPod. Now, I can listen to my music in color! It's amazing. Along with the technicolor iPod, I got more space on this sucker. Which means, more music I haven't listened to in ages. Demaria gave me this album awhile back, and I forgot about it, until now. Here's a hint:

"Say mister can you spare a dime? Some change could make a change. Can buy some time… SABRINA!!"

Compare and Contrast

MalkmusGot a live recording of Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks at Portland in January. Janet Weiss (formerly of Sleater-Kinney) really adds to Malkmus that the other guy didn't. I think these 2 tracks will prove my theory of Malkmus-Relativity. And, it's an awesome song.

new Modest Mouse

You're like, I didn't know Marty liked Modest Mouse. Well, I'm not a fan. But, this new track is hot. Plus, it's got Johnny Marr (Smiths) and James Mercer (Shins) on it. It's got a Psycho Killer vibe to it.

Dinosaur Jr. - Beyond

Oh snap, pulled the wool over your eyes Danny Noonan. He gave me a sample of the new Dinosaur Jr album and now I'm writing about it. Oh well, I gave credit where credit is due-due, right? Anyway, it's the first album with the original lineup and comes out in May. I would love to say they have matured and it's totally different than anything Dinosaur Jr. has put out. But instead, it's Dinosaur Jr. being Dinosaur Jr: good alt. tracks with mascis guitar solos.

I didn’t spend six years in Medical School to be called “mister,” thank you very much.

Should be the name of the new album for Dr. Dog. But that would be stupid. Instead they went with We All Belong. Here's a fancy track from it:

i haven't really been all that in to new music for a long long time.  i've pretty much had the same response to the question "what have you been listening to?" for the past 6 years.  i hear about new bands like, what is it - clap your hands somethin or other? - and when i listen to bands like that, they sound good, but i so rarely feel moved, ya know? i can't explain what exactly happened, but i lost most of my interest in music.  part of it is just that i started to feel totally inundated by bands.  we've all talked about this before, but the internet and the mainstreaming of indie/punk rock have removed a lot of the joy of finding new music . i'm sure there's tons of awesome stuff out there, but after a while,  simply stopped searching for it.  at first it really bothered me - this indifference to the thing that used to mean the world to me.  but eventually, i just got used to it.  but today i heard something that really really moved me.  it's by M.Ward - i've heard his name mentioned before, but i've never stopped to listen closely.  ya'll have probably already heard this, but holy shit, i think this track is totally fucking beautiful.

Ted Leo and The Pharmacists - The Sons of Cain

Guns of Brixton cover

I'm really not in a Clash phase. It just happens to be the second Clash thing I've put up.

So, It's Thursday afternoon (I have the week off), it's crappy outside and I'm working on a website at home. Anyway, taking a look at my dust-collecting CD collection next to me and I pull out this CD that, I believe, Anat gave me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I pop it in for funzzies. It fits the mood I'm in. All covers of 70's/80's songs. I feel like I'm in the Fez again. Is that place still around?
